Hunt and Gather at Red Hill Truffles

  • Duration : 4 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: Red Hill, Victoria

Join us for a fun and informative Winters day in the hinterland of Red Hill.

The day will be spent in equal parts hunting truffles with Jenny McAuley and her dog Thomas at Red Hill Truffles and gathering mushrooms with fungi master Cameron Russell.

Learn how to distinguish between different varieties of mushroom and sort the poisonous from the palatable.

Experience the thrill of a truffle hunt through the oak and hazelnut trees and see super sniffer Thomas at work. Touch, smell, photograph and even purchase a freshly dug truffle.

All this hunting and gathering will leave you with an appetite. Enjoy a lunch of tasty treats with a glass of wine and discover the best ways to store, prepare, cook and serve both truffles and mushrooms.

The Fungi Forest project at the Symposium of Australian Gastronomy

On Monday the 5th of December I will be having a discussion with Simon Whibley talking about the The Fungi Forest Project, the ideas and discussion we have had about secular sacred spaces.

This is a part of the Symposium of Australian Gastronomy and it is an amazing event with the likes of Annie Smithers, Stephanie Alexander to name a few.

Fungi Forest Project Pavilion Gallery

We are working with Workshop Architecture to design and have built a pavilion on the site of the Fungi Forest Project to host our tour guest as well future events. This  is key part of our project although it is a few years into the future the best day to start is today.

Simon Whibley is a rather fun and exciting architect I have know for many years and I am super keen to be working on this project with him 🙂

These are some of the Concept drawings that we are rather excited about.
